2015 Marathon

Week 1: November 9th - November 15th
  • Sunday: 5 miles
  • Monday: 4.3 miles
  • Tuesday: 9 miles
  • Friday: 7.8 miles
  • Saturday: 4.1 miles
Week 2: November 16th - November 22nd
  • Monday: 5 miles ~ 43 degrees and raining hard towards dusk. Got very wet.
  • Wednesday: 6.5 miles ~ 36 degrees, sunny and breezy. Around Fresh Pond and back.
  • Friday: 6.4 miles ~ 30 degrees, sunny and windy. Bumped into current roomie (Emily) in Teele  Sq. and former roomie Tara in Inman Sq. Ran to MGH and took the T home.
  • Saturday: 4.4 miles ~ 31 degrees, cloudy and very gusty on the river. Stopped to watch the ducks crash landing/sliding across the ice in the Public Garden.
Week 3: November 23rd - November 29th
  • Sunday: 2.5 miles ~ 52 degrees and sunny. 
  • Monday: 5.6 miles ~ 65 degrees and damp with low, fast clouds. Took a turn through Harvard Sq.
  • Wednesday: 5.6 miles ~ 45 degrees and slightly rainy.
  • Thursday: 8 miles ~ 32 with sun to cloudy. Thanksgiving run to and through the empty downtown.
  • Saturday: 4.5 miles ~ 34 and mostly cloudy. Took the new path through Squire Cheyney Farm to the Westtown School farm.
Week 4: November 30th - December 6th
  • Sunday: 5 miles ~ 42 and overcast. Hilly run through local developments and woods. 
  • Monday: 5.6 miles ~ 55 degrees. Ran to the bank, and had lots of energy. 
  • Wednesday: 4 miles ~ 45 degrees and foggy. Came one-way from Brighton to Dow St. 
  • Friday: 11 miles ~ 35 degrees and mostly sunny.  
  • Saturday: 3 miles ~ 39 degrees and raining.
Week 5: December 7th - December 13th
  • Monday: 6.5 miles ~ 25 degrees and windy. Ran with Justin on a new bike path in Somerville. 
  • Wednesday: 4.5 miles ~ 42 with stinging rain.  
  • Friday: 5 miles ~ 37 degrees and overcast. Felt anemic and sluggish. Not the best run. 
  • Saturday: 8.7 miles ~ 35 and mostly cloudy. First Furey run.
Week 6: December 14th - December 20th
  • Sunday: 2.5 miles ~ 37 and partly sunny. Got caught up in a festive Santa Run at the end. 
  • Monday: 5.6 miles ~ 39 and misty. Ran at dusk to Harvard Square, and felt good.
  • Wednesday: 4.5 miles ~ 43 and drizzling. Hilly run through Somerville with Daniel. 
  • Friday: 3 miles ~ 35 and gray.
  • Saturday: 13 miles ~ 27 degrees and mostly cloudy. Back home in Cheyney for Christmas. 
Week 7: December 21st - December  27th
  • Monday: Pilates cross training 
  • Thursday: 5 miles ~ 45 degrees. Saw a car with a giant light-up menorah drive by. 
  • Friday: 5 miles ~ 41 degrees and cloudy. Walked the first half mile with my parents to the mail.
  • Saturday: 10 miles ~ 45 with sun. Felt tired in the legs, but made it just fine. 
Week 8: December 28th - January 3rd
  • Sunday: 3 miles ~ indoor speed workout on the treadmill. 
  • Monday: Pilates cross training 
  • Wednesday: 5 miles ~ 30 degrees and sunny. Ran the XC courses at Westtown Friends.
  • Thursday: 5 miles ~ 37 and sunny. Ran the Ridley Creek loop while my parents walked. 
  • Saturday: 12 miles ~ 30 degrees. Final run at home before heading back to Boston.
Week 9: January 4th - January 10th
  • Tuesday: 3 miles (hill reps) ~ 18 and windy on the Common. Daniel came along.
  • Wednesday: 5 miles ~ 20 degrees. Ran to Harvard and back to Davis for Chipotle.  
  • Friday: 5 miles ~ 29 degrees. Bike path into Arlington on fresh snow.
  • Saturday: 10 miles ~ 18 degrees and sunny. Riverside Run with the team, and Daniel joined at Cleveland Circle.
Week 10: January 11th - January 18th
  • Tuesday: 4.8 miles (hill reps) ~ 18 and clear. Second hill workout. 
  • Friday: 5 miles ~ 30 degrees. Ran XC courses at Westtown with Daniel; very icy.
  • Saturday: 14 miles ~ 20 degrees and very sunny. A super hill blast in Cheyney, with Daniel for the final 7.
Week 11: January 19th - January 24th
  • Monday: 3.4 miles ~ 40 and mostly sunny. Checked out the new paths at Squire Cheyney farm.
  • Tuesday: 5.2 miles (hill reps) ~ 30 degrees. Third hill run (5 reps). Felt very tired.
  • Wednesday: 1.9 miles ~ 27 degrees and sunny. Quick run to Packard's Corner and back from Daniel's.
  • Friday: 10.7 miles ~ 34 and partly sunny. Ran a one-way route to Brandeis via Harvard Sq. 
Week 12: January 25 - January 31st
  • Sunday: 5 miles ~ 33 degrees and very sunny. Slushy sidewalks and general post-snow mess.
  • Monday: 5 miles ~ 27 degrees at dusk. Ran the bike paths as the blizzard came in.
  • Thursday: 5 miles ~ 29 degrees with wind. Slushy, slippery, and many sidewalks blocked with snow.
  • Friday: 2 miles ~ 30 degrees and sunny. Short run to Davis.
  • Saturday: 16 miles ~ 11 degrees and snowing. Long run out past Newton and back to Kenmore.
Week 13: February 1st - February 7th
  • Tuesday: 6.2 miles (hill reps) ~ 10 degrees and brilliantly sunny. Snow day from CFS; did my hills up and down Curtis Street next to Tufts. 
  • Wednesday: 4 miles ~ 32 degrees. Night run through some serious slop and ice.
  • Friday: Cross training (flopped around on the floor doing some Jillian Michaels ab workout).
  • Saturday: 10 miles ~ 25 degrees and overcast. Ran downtown on my own.
Week 14: February 8th - February 14th
  • Sunday: 3.8 miles ~ 18 degrees and snowing.  Looped to Cleveland Circle and up Summit Hill. Conditions rapidly getting worse.
  • Tuesday: 5.7 miles (hill reps) ~ 30 degrees. T was closed from snow; did hills up and down Comm Ave. outside Harry's Bar with a warmup to Packard's Corner. Very sloppy roads.
  • Friday: 3 miles ~ Back in PA; pacing workout on the treadmill (8:30, 7:30, 6:30)
  • Saturday: 16 miles ~ 26 degrees and overcast. Long run to Ridley Creek State Park and back.
Week 15: February 15th - February 21st
  • Sunday: 3 miles ~ Pacing workout at the gym.
  • Tuesday: 6 miles (hill reps) ~ 20 degrees and very sunny. Hill workout up and down my street.
  • Wednesday: 5 miles ~ Pacing workout on the treadmill. 
  • Friday: 10.3 miles ~ 9 degrees with strong sun and wind. Tough run throughout the neighborhood.
Week 16: February 22nd - February 28th
  • Monday: 2 miles ~ 18 degrees at nightfall. Quick run but had to walk on many icy spots.
  • Tuesday: 7 miles (hill reps) ~ 14 degrees. Very rigorous hill run on the Common. 
  • Wednesday: 4 miles ~ 20 degrees.
  •  Saturday: 18 miles ~ 17 degrees. Good, sunny run with Mom there to hand out Gatorade.
 Week 17: March 1st - March 7th
  • Monday: 2 miles ~ 29 degrees at nightfall. Quick run to Davis and back.
  • Tuesday: 3 miles (hill reps?)~ 30 degrees. Failed attempt at a hill run. Quit after 2 of 8 reps due to feeling hungry, weak, and tendonitis in my foot.
  • Friday: 5 miles ~ 15 degrees and sunny. To Harvard Square to visit the bank.
  • Saturday: 10.7 miles ~ 20 degrees with sun. Ran with Samaritans teammate, Jesse.
Week 18: March 8th - March 14th
  • Monday: 5 miles ~ 45 degrees. Ran the Minuteman bike path into Arlington. Light much later now!
  • Tuesday: 7.6 miles (hill reps) ~ 43 degrees. Felt hungry for the first 2/3, but much better as it went on.
  • Wednesday: 2 miles ~ 55 degrees.  Foot hurt a bit, so only a short run. Saw ducks at a bird feeder.
  • Saturday: 18 miles ~ 34 degrees and raining. Wet out-and-back from Kenmore to Auburndale.
Week 19: March 15th - March 21st
  • Sunday: 2 miles ~ 37 degrees. Lots of dog poop appearing everywhere as the snow melts.
  • Tuesday: 7.6 miles (hill reps) ~ 35 degrees with rain and then hail. Incredible wind on the Common.
  • Wednesday: 4.5 miles ~ 25 degrees. Terrible run, felt exhausted.
  • Friday: 4.5 miles ~ 30 degrees and overcast. Picked up science museum passes at the Cambridge Library.
  • Saturday: 12 miles ~ 27 degrees and snowing. First day of "spring." Ran with Jimmy.
Week 20: March 22nd - March 28th
  • Tuesday: 5.7 miles (hill reps) ~ 39 degrees and sunny. Ended short due to hamstring pain. 
  • Saturday: 4 miles ~ Dropped out of peak 21-miler from Framingham--hammy pain again.
Week 21: March 29th - April 4th
  • Monday: Cross training & stretching 
  • Tuesday: Cross training & stretching
  • Thursday: Cross training & stretching
  • Saturday: Simulated 12-miler with elliptical and 3 miles on treadmill
Week 22: April 5th - April 11th
  • Monday: 3 miles & cross training 
  • Wednesday: 2.5 & 5 miles
  • Friday: 2 miles & cross training
  • Saturday: 8 miles ~ 50 and sunny. Last Furey training run!
Week 23: April 12th - April 18th
  • Sunday: 2 miles ~ 40 and sunny. Just to Packard's Corner and back to loosen my calves. 
  • Monday: 2 miles ~ 69 degrees. So hot!
  • Wednesday: 3 miles ~ 65 degrees. Was supposed to be 5 miles, but pain once more behind the knee. 
  • Friday: Cross training 
 Week 24: April 19th - April 26th
  • Monday: 26.2 miles
